IFS Groups

We are not currently providing active groups, but every inquiry serves as interest.

Please read about IFS Groups below, and reach out if you’d like to join one in the future.

Groups Highlight a Core Tenet of What Sets IFS Apart: Interaction of Self

One of the most important and powerful features of IFS, that sets it apart from many other types of psychotherapy, is that the mechanism of action is 100% inside of the client. IFS focuses on the interaction between Self and parts.

A skilled therapist can be extremely helpful in teaching and facilitating the process, but is technically not at all necessary, hence why group therapy works well.

Many people gain enormous benefit from IFS without ever hiring a therapist, or only working with a therapist for certain limited periods of time, such as while they’re initially learning the system and occasionally when they encounter some particularly difficult part and want extra support.

IFS Groups don’t replace psychotherapy, but they still provide a meaningful way to access, learn about, and benefit from the IFS process outside of the context of therapy.

IFS Groups Provide Accessibility to Therapy

High quality IFS therapy can be absolutely life changing and I believe it should be fully accessible to everyone that wants it.

However, many people:

  • lack the scheduling flexibility

  • lack financial resources, insurance coverage, reliable childcare,

  • have had negative past experiences with the mental health system that lead them to distrust or avoid therapists

  • have already learned the IFS model and been in therapy for some time, and feel that they’re ready to continue the work on their own, but still want some structure and community to support their process
