What should I expect during my first therapy session (or meeting)?

Do you offer evening or weekend therapy appointments?

Evening appointments are sometimes available for weekly therapy. Weekend appointments are sometimes available for intensives. Please contact us to discuss your particular situation and learn about current availability.

We do not accept insurance. If you live in Texas, Massachusetts, or Maryland and your insurance offers out of network benefits, we can provide you with a superbill (a receipt) that you can submit to your insurance for reimbursement.

What types of therapies do you offer?

Cay offers IFS therapy in both weekly and intensive formats, Kimberly offers EMDR weekly therapy. Both of us are also trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and can provide that in addition to IFS/EMDR as needed.

Nothing big happened to me, do I really need therapy?

Most people who seek therapy don’t describe themselves as ‘traumatized’ and don’t recognize that trauma is the root cause of their symptoms. The primary reason that clients give for initially seeking out therapy is “anger issues”, “communication problems,” or other kinds of stressful relationship dynamics (abusive relationships, breakups, cheating, chronic loneliness, social anxiety, lack of trust, betrayal, etc).

People also quite often initially come into therapy because they’re experiencing difficulty controlling some aspect of their behavior that has become excessive (drinking or drug use, over or under eating, video games, social media, gambling, procrastination, lying, etc) or they’re having physical symptoms that aren’t responding to medical treatments (panic attacks, heart palpitations, chronic pain, chronic fatigue, sexual issues, etc).

Reach out to us if you just want to talk to someone to see where the road takes us.

What are your therapy fees?

The fee for weekly psychotherapy is $300 for each 1-hour session. The fee for IFS intensives depends on the total number of hours. For a typical intensive with 15 total hours of therapy, the fee is $5,500. Contact us with any questions about scheduling longer or shorter intensives.

Do you offer a sliding scale?

We do not offer a sliding scale. We recommend clients connect with Open Path Collective (Home - Open Path Psychotherapy Collective) for sliding scale therapy, and Parts Work Practice (https://www.partsworkpractice.com/)  for free online IFS education and group practice opportunities.
